Eric Welder, MD, is a sports medicine and orthopedic surgeon with Intermountain Health in Aurora. Dr. Welder’s clinical interests include open and arthroscopic shoulder surgery, including shoulder arthroplasty, hip preservation surgery, knee surgery, including, ligamentous reconstruction, cartilage preservation, meniscus surgery, and patellofemoral pathology. He earned his undergraduate degree from Stanford University. He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine and completed an orthopedic surgery residency at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Most recently, Dr. Welder concluded a sports medicine fellowship with UCHealth Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Denver. As a board-eligible surgeon, he is passionate about expanding access in the local community to cutting-edge treatments for athletes including both nonoperative and surgical techniques. “Days, weeks, and seasons matter to both competitive and recreational athletes, and I, therefore, strive to understand every patient's individual goals and to work with them to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that includes both non-surgical and surgical treatment options to best meet these goals.” When not working with patients, Dr. Welder enjoys football, snowboarding, golf, hiking, and above all, spending time with his wife and son grilling in the backyard and teaching him to play baseball left-handed.
